Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Oriental, May 2, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.4 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental today, Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.4.

The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental, today, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 04:37 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Tarragona.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 06.37°North, 127.29°East – 119 km South 51° East of Tarragona. It had a depth of focus of 058 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the bulletin released by the quake-recording agency, there were no intensities as well as instrumental intensities recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas.
