12-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoot Himself While Playing Dad’s Gun
A 12-year-old boy has passed away after accidentally shooting himself while playing with the service firearm of his dad.
On Thursday (January 26, 2023), the victim brought his father’s gun to school in San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan. The kid played the 9mm Beretta when he accidentally shoot himself when the firearm went off.
The young boy has been taken to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound in the head. Unfortunately, the victim passed away due to serious injury, according to San Jose Del Monte chief of police Colonel Rannie Lumactod.
“Dito sa may chin, lumabas sa ilong at tumama fired bullet sa kisame. From kisame, nag invade doon sa yero o doon sa hard object,” Lumactod said.
Lumactod said that the victim unlocked the firearm out of his curiosity. However, the kid pulled the trigger thinking it was just like the mobile game he is playing.
“Due to curiosity of the young age of the victim, na-unclock niya yung firearm, pag-pull niya ng trigger, it happened, pumutok yung baril. Sa kakalaro niya, akala niya, yung game na ginagawa niya, maybe the same sa real na buhay. Whereas in real, kapag tinamaan ka, di ka na marerevive,” Lumactod added.
The boy’s father who is working as a police officer will face administrative charges for negligence.
