President Joe Biden says Pandemic in U.S “is over”
JOE BIDEN- The President of U.S said in his latest interview on Sunday that the COVID-19 pandemic in United States “is now over.”
The remarks were indicative of the current state of much of US society, given that COVID restrictions have been largely lifted nationwide and travel has returned to pre-pandemic levels.
“The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it…, but the pandemic is over,” Biden said in CNS news program interview.
However, the president’s comments come just a few weeks after his government requested billions of dollars in financing from Congress to continue its testing and vaccination operations through a projected fall wave.
Based on the report of GMA News, The self-described “car guy” Biden’s trip to Michigan last week raised awareness of the Detroit event, which is being conducted for the first time since 2019.
In a keynote speech, Biden emphasized recent legislation approved to promote US automakers transittion to electric vehicle as well as significant new investments in semiconductor production.
Meanwhile, The report mentioned that, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus World Health Organization director-general said that the Covid-19 pandemic was “in sight” and the world will begin to be better as this pandemic officialy ends.
“Last week, the number of weekly reported deaths from Covid-19 was the lowest since March 2020,” Ghebreyesus said
“We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic. We’re not there yet, but the end is in sight,” he added.
However, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised their Covid-19 advice last month, urging the country to forego measures like social isolation and quarantines in favor of a reduction in severe Covid-19-related disease. However, the organization notes that some individuals, such as those who are older, immunocompromised, have specific disabilities or underlying medical issues, are at a higher risk for serious disease and may need to take additional measures.
