NTC Warns Public vs Scam Messages Offering Fake Jobs
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has warned the public against the scammers who were offering fake jobs.
Nowadays, a lot of scammers have already scattered in different parts of the world including the Philippines. The heartless criminals are lurking in every corner waiting for an opportunity to lure their victims.
Most conmen are using decisive tactics and strategies to convince more victims. They were thinking of schemes to earn money in an instant. Many victims were deceived by the convincing acts of the scammers.
According to NTC Deputy Commissioner Edgardo Cabarrios, it is dangerous to click links from suspicious and spam text messages. Some links will ask for the personal information of the users.
Cabarrios also explained that some links can copy the personal details and information of the users from the device. He said that it is hard to locate and identify the scammers sending scam text messages.
“Yung sinasabi nating wag kayong pumasok sa isang link, delikado po ‘yon. Pagpasok niyo doon, kundi sila manghihingi ng personal information, na kadalasan hinihingi, eh makokopya yung mga information doon sa ating devices,” Cabarrios said.
The NTC official said that the suspect was using prepaid numbers and those contact details were not registered. He explained that it is almost impossible for law enforcement agencies to track scammers without identity.
Cabarrios advised the public not to entertain those messages and to block the number or delete the messages to avoid falling into those schemes. Individuals can also report similar incidents to CICC.
“Pagka naka-receive tayo niyan, block the number, tapos delete the message, and kung pwede ireport po doon sa CICC, Cybercrime Investigation Coordinating Center.” Cabarrios added.
