Duterte will have a simple birthday celebration
President Rodrigo Duterte has this wish for his 77th birthday as he is set to have a simple celebration on March 28.
This will be the last presidential birthday celebration of the current Chief Executive as the Philippines will hail his successor this coming May 2022 elections.
Based on the report from The Philippine Star, PRRD will just have a simple birthday celebration this year. Last year, his photos blowing the candle on top of a cup of rice went viral.
He was criticized for allegedly pretending to be poor. The then-presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that there was no point for the president to pretend to be poor because he has always been a simple person.
Apparently, President Duterte is sticking to his simplicity. Acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said that on March 28, Monday, the Chief Executive will just have a “simple” and “quiet” birthday celebration.
Andanar also shared the wish of the President for his 77th birthday and it is to have a “a clean, fair, and honest election in May 2022.”
In Andanar’s statement, he also shared the Malacañang wishes the President to have good physical and mental health for the coming years in order for him to continue serving the nation and the Filipino people.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte has not endorse any presidential candidate yet, as of this writing. However, it was confirmed that he and UniTeam’s presidential bet Bongbong Marcos had a meeting prior to the announcement of the ruling party PDP-Laban’s endorsement.
Reportedly, the meeting was not an endorsement from the President. It was said that PRRD gave advice to BBM and they talked about the achievements of the current administration.
