Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte turned 76 on Sunday, March 28. He is the oldest Pinoy politician to be elected as President in the Philippines. His term will end in June next year.
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said Duterte celebrates his birthday in his hometown Davao City. The president decided to isolate himself following the advice of his Presidential Security Group (PSG) and his doctors.
In a previous article, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wishes for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic on his 76th birthday. He also said that the Davaoeño politician is determined to continue efforts to fulfill his promises.
On Sunday, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go shared President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s photo on his Facebook account. It was taken in his home in Davao. In the photo, the president can be seen blowing a candle struck into a mound of rice.
It appears that the president had a simple meal to mark his birthday. He wore a t-shirt and shorts blowing a candle.
In the caption, Bong Go extended his birthday greetings to Duterte wishing him more years ahead. He also urged the people to join Duterte in simple prayers and thanks giving.
“Ngayong kaarawan ni Tatay Digong, samahan natin siya sa simpleng pagdasal at pasasalamat sa Panginoon. Marami pa namang selebrasyon sa buhay natin. Ang importante ngayon ay alalahanin natin na buhay tayo at patuloy tayong nagtutulungan para malampasan ang krisis na ito,” he wrote.
