Malacañang Places 6 More Provinces under Alert Level 3

Malacañang Speaks on Heightening Curbs in 6 Provinces

MALACAÑANG – The Palace announced that six (6) more provinces in the Philippines will be under Alert Level 3 due to the rise in their COVID-19 cases.

The rise in the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines after the holiday season urged the government to re-impose stricter measures. To fight the spread of the virus, Metro Manila was once again placed under Alert Level 3 which was initially set from January 3 to January 15 and further extended until the end of the month.

Previously, the national government and the Department of Health (DOH) affirmed that there is a possibility that the measure will escalate to Alert Level 4 if the cases will continue to rise.

The PH government continues to encourage the people to get vaccinated against the COVID-19. DOH has already given its go signal for fully vaccinated individuals who are already eligible for booster shots.

DOH previously confirmed that the COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila have peaked but the authorities continue to encourage the people to keep on practicing the public health protocols to really drag the numbers down.

While Metro Manila is under Alert Level 3, there are other provinces that are under Alert Level 4 until the end of January. Recently, Malacañang placed six (6) more provinces under Alert Level 3.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Malacañang said that the following provinces will be under Alert Level 3 from January 28, 2022 to February 15, 2022:

  • Palawan
  • Camiguin
  • Davao Occidental
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Sulu

According to the report, under Alert Level 3, the in-door capacity of dine-in services, personal care services, fitness studios, religious gatherings, and recreational venues is reduced to 30% for the fully vaccinated individuals.

The alert level system is based on the growth rate of the COVID-19 cases, the daily attack rate, and the healthcare utilization.
