DOTr Clarifies List of Exemptions on “No Vaccine, No Ride” Policy

DOTr Cites Who Are Exempted on “No Vaccine, No Ride” Policy

DOTR – The Department of Transportation clarified the list of the exemptions on the “No Vaccine, No Ride” policy.

The Philippines tightened the measures in some areas in the country again following the increase in the COVID-19 cases. The post-holiday spike in the cases urged the government to place Metro Manila under Alert Level 3. Initially, it was set from January 3 to January 15 but was extended until the end of the month.

Several cities outside Metro Manila are also under Alert Level 3 now due to their high cases of COVID-19. In the National Capital Region (NCR), the Department of Tourism (DOTr) is implementing the “No Vaccine, No Ride” policy amid the intensified fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Currently, the implementation of the said policy is in the warning phase. The transportation department previously said that the full implementation may be expected in the coming weeks.

Currently, there is still a lot of confusion on the exemptions on the “No Vaccine, No Ride” policy. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the DOTr moved to clarify who are exempted from the policy.

According to Transportation Undersecretary Artemio Tuazon Jr., the employees whether vaccinated or not are exempted from the policy. Those individuals who are unvaccinated due to their medical condition are also exempted provided that they will present proof from the hospital.

Based on the report, the DOTr also clarified that those who are going for essential travels like buying food or medicines may also ride the public vehicles and the presentation of a digital vaccine card or the soft copy of the vaccination card is also allowed.

Furthermore, the transportation department stressed that passengers who have yet to get their booster shots are allowed to ride in public vehicles.
