Authorities Arrest Mechanic After Failing to Return Customer’s Car in Bulacan
A 49-year-old mechanic was arrested in Baliwag, Bulacan after he allegedly failed to return a vehicle that had been entrusted to him for repairs by a customer.
According to the Quezon City Police District, the incident involved a 67-year-old businessman who had brought his Honda City to the mechanic on June 29, 2026. The vehicle owner reportedly trusted the suspect because he had previously repaired several of his cars without any issues.
The businessman handed over the keys so the vehicle could undergo repairs. However, after some time, the mechanic allegedly failed to return the car as agreed. Efforts to contact him were reportedly unsuccessful, causing concern for the owner.
The businessman sought help from authorities when the mechanic failed to return the vehicle. Police immediately launched a follow-up operation to locate both the suspect and the missing car.
The operation led officers to Barangay Tangos in Baliwag, Bulacan, where the mechanic was eventually arrested. Authorities were also able to recover the vehicle during the operation.
After the car was returned, the owner inspected it and discovered that several items were missing. Among the reported missing belongings were the spare tire, a hydraulic jack, a lifting jack, and other accessories stored inside the vehicle. The value of the missing items was estimated at around P15,000.
Police records also showed that the suspect had previously faced murder and frustrated murder cases. Authorities did not immediately provide further details regarding those earlier cases.
The mechanic is now under police custody while legal proceedings continue. He is facing charges of estafa, theft, and violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
