Video of MMDA Scolding Traffic Violator for Trying to Escape & Ram Enforcers Earns Reactions Online
TRAFFIC VIOLATOR – MMDA lambasted a traffic violator who tried to escape the traffic enforcers during apprehension.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is an agency of the Republic of the Philippines implementing the planning, monitoring and coordinative functions along the road concerning purely local matters.
The agency covers the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Malabon, Taguig, Navotas and San Juan and the municipality of Pateros.
The Facebook page “Gadget Addict” has shared the video footage of MMDA traffic czar Edison Bong Nebrija criticizing a traffic violator for trying to escape the traffic enforcers. The video elicits comments from the netizens.
In the video, the motorcycle rider refused to slow down and tried to escape the MMDA officer trying to apprehend him over multiple traffic violation. The agency’s CCTV camera caught the rider with no plate, no registration, no license and no helmet.
Nebrija lecture and scolded the motorcycle rider during the apprehension. The traffic violator apologized to the enforcers for his irresponsible behavior and explained that he was just in a hurry during that time.
MMDA explained that they were using CCTV for non-contact apprehensions but some motorists with no license and no registration proves the limitation of this system. Ground-level enforcement is required for this type of case.

“Gumagamit ng CCTV ang MMDA para sa mga non-contact apprehensions.
Pero ang rider na ito ang nagpapakita kung bakit may limitasyon ang paggamit ng CCTV para sa paghuhuli.
Walang plaka, walang rehistrasyon at walang lisensya ang rider.
Ang tanging paraan para mahuli ang driver na ganito ay ground-level enforcement.
Na-impound ang motorsiklo.
UPDATE: ayon sa rider, may rehistrasyon ang motorsiklo, pero hindi siya nakapagpakita ng OR/CR dahil hawak ito ng dealer hanggang mabayaran nang buo ang motorsiklo.
Ayon sa kanya, bayad na ang kanyang mga penalty at nakuha na ulit ang motorsiklo”
