Former senator Manny Pacquiao launches donation drive aiming to help the victims of the deadly earthquake in Mindanao.
On June 8, a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck a large part of Mindanao, displacing thousands of people and several ones dead and injured. Building and establishments also collapsed due to the intense shaking, and until now, the people there are still reeling from the aftermath.

According to a previous article, aftershocks are expected to happen and it might last for weeks to a month.
The earthquake left extensive damage across the hardest-hit areas of Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Davao Occidental, and General Santos City, affecting homes, schools, roads, bridges, and water facilities.
According to the latest report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as of June 10, more than 197,000 individuals have been affected by the disaster, while over 25,000 remain displaced and are currently staying in evacuation centers, temporary shelters, and other safe areas.
Stepping forward to extend help to the victims is former senator and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao. His fellow Mindanaoans are in dire need of help. He conveyed his deepest sympathies to the families affected by the disaster, especially those who lost loved ones, homes, and their means of earning a living.
“My heart is heavy as I receive news of the destruction and distress caused by the earthquake in our home. To the families who have lost loved ones and to everyone who has been displaced or suffered damage to their homes and livelihoods, please know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers,” he wrote in a statement.
He launched a relief campaign through The Manny Pacquiao Foundation via https://pacquiaofoundation.org/, encouraging people to send help amid the efforts for recovery.
The foundation is accepting donations through various channels, including card payments, cryptocurrency, Apple Pay, and PayPal, among others.
