How true is it that Bong Go decides and not the President?
Senator Bong Go, who is running for president in the 2022 elections, is being accused of controlling President Rodrigo Duterte, and here’s his reaction to this allegation.
Retired Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., on the day he filed his certificate of candidacy for President, claimed that Go is the one pulling the strings. Allegedly, the Senator has been the person who is influencing the President’s decisions. However, Parlade did not elaborate on his claim.
Based on the report from Inquirer, Sen. Bong Go addressed this issue being thrown at him. He said that he does not want to argue with Parlade anymore because he respects the retired lieutenant general.
On the accusation that he is controlling the Chief Executive, Go said that Duterte has already clarified this issue in the past. “Siya mismo ang nagsabi na hindi naman sya magiging Pangulo kung pinapaikot lang siya ng ibang tao. Tanging siya ang gumagawa ng kanyang magagandang desisyon at tumutulong lang ako mula pa noon,” the Senator said.
On the claim of Parlade that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine Army are aware that this is the situation between Go and Duterte, the Senator said that it is just natural that he will help the President in implementing what the latter has decided.
Sen. Bong Go also reiterated that he has been with the President for more than two decades now. “Natural lamang, bilang matagal niya akong assistant ng mahigit dalawang dekada, tumutulong lang ako sa pag-implementa nang tama ng mga desisyon niya na nakakabuti sa bayan,” he insisted.
The Senator added that the companions of Parlade in AFP and PNP can attest to how he is helping the President in his decision for the benefit of soldiers, police, firemen, and others.
