Police Involved in Extortion Against Inmates inside Jail of San Mateo Arrested
Local authorities arrested a police who was accused of extortion against inmates detained in San Mateo Municipal Police Station of Rizal province.
During an entrapment operation within the San Mateo Municipal Police Station in Rizal province, the Philippine National Police – Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) a police officer who accused of extorting money from convicts apprehended. The male police officer who was reportedly implicated in the extortion of the wife of one of the detainees at the aforementioned station, according to Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, director of the PNP-IMEG. According to the police investigation, the official allegedly offered money in exchange for document release.
According to the victim’s account, the suspect demanded at least P1,000 in exchange for the release of a document that she and her incarcerated husband required, such as a certificate of detention. Following confirmation, an entrapment operation was carried out, with the suspect being apprehended after exchanging money with the victim.
The suspect is being held at Camp Crame and will be charged with robbery, extortion, and administrative offenses, based on the report.
