ZAMBALES – Miss Universe Philippines 2021 delegate Joanna Maria Rabe took to social media to announce her departure from the competition.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 announced its Top 30 last September 1. The coronation night will be on September 25. Ilongga beauty Rabiya Mateo is set to crown her successor who will compete in Israel this coming December.

Recently, Rabiya and her fellow Miss Universe 2020 queens Bella Ysmael, Michelle Gumabao, Pauline Amelinckx, and Billie Hakenson reunited for a neon-themed photoshoot. Their photos stir up the excitement for this year’s pageant.

Just when the Top 30 were beginning their lock-in, Zambales delegate, bet Joanna Marie Rabe announced on social media that she’s withdrawing from the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 competition due to health reasons. In a post on her Instagram account on Monday, September 14, she said her doctors advised her that she need more time to recover her strength.

“With great sadness, I would like to inform you that my Miss Universe Philippines journey has been cut short. I got Dengue Fever earlier this week and my doctors advised that I would need more time to recover my strength,” she wrote.

Despite the sudden turn of events, the 26-year-old aspirant said she will forever be indebted to the people who helped her in her MUP journey. she also thanked the organization.

“I have grown so much. I hope to see everyone, in a bigger stage and much brighter circumstances in the future,” she said.

Rabe ended the post with her final sign-off as an MUP candidate, “I am Joanna Maria Rabe, your Miss Universe Philippines – Zambales 2021.”

Several beauty queens like Meiji Cruz, Hannah Arnold, and fellow MUP delegates Maureen Wroblewitz and Ayn Bernos wished her a safe recovery. Her fans hoped that she would continue her pageant journey next year.

Meanwhile, Rabe’s 29 other Miss Universe Philippines sisters have registered at the Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort have been given their respective pageant sashes. The organization has yet to announce if another delegate will replace Rabe in the top 30 or MUP will continue with only 20 candidates.
