Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla Announces Last Known Location of Sen. Bato dela Rosa

JONVIC REMULLA – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary spoke on the rumors that Senator Bato dela Rosa has allegedly been arrested.

Recently, there were rumors that Sen. Bato dela Rosa has allegedly been arrested. Amid the rumors that Dela Rosa was arrested, Atty. Jimmy Bondoc warned the Filipino people that “bad news is coming”. The said remarks of the Duterte ally was tied by many people to the rumors.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa is in hiding again after his appearance in the Senate in May. Prior to it, he was in hiding for six months since Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla announced that the International Criminal Court has allegedly released an arrest warrant against the Senator.

Dela Rosa is tagged as the alleged co-perpetrator of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the controversial war on drugs of the previous administration. He was the first Philippine National Police (PNP) under Duterte’s watch.

Amid his constant claim that he is allegedly the next target of the ICC next to former Pres. Duterte, Sen. Bato dela Rosa has changed his stance towards an ICC arrest warrant multiple times. There were instances when he expressed his willingness to join Duterte who is currently detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands for more than a year now and there were also instances when he expressed the possibility of hiding.

Amid his supposed “hiding”, some of the allies of Sen. Bato dela Rosa in the Senate claimed that his office remains operational. There are also some senators who called on him to voluntarily put his salary on hold amid the criticisms of the public on his prolonged absence.

Recently, amid the rumors that Sen. Bato dela Rosa has allegedly been arrested, Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla broke his silence. His remarks came amid the lack of confirmation from the other authorities if the rumors are true.

Based on News5, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla claimed that there has been no arrest for Sen. Bato dela Rosa. The Interior Secretary also claimed that the Senator was allegedly hiding in Mindanao.

“We would like to confirm categorically that as of 6:00 p.m. last night, there has been no arrest for Senator Bato,”

Based on the report, the Department of Justice also denied having any information confirming the rumored arrest of Sen. Dela Rosa. According to Justice Sec. Frederick Vida, only the law enforcement authorities can confirm it.

“I think it’s more of a law enforcement matter… Completely wala, zero ako,” the DOJ Secretary said.

Recently, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque posted anew about Sen. Bato dela Rosa. Aside from Bondoc’s remarks, his previous statement also triggered the rumors.
