Bela Padilla raised this issue against BOC
Actress Bela Padilla revealed that she had a bad experience with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) because of this package that was sent to her from a Spanish shoe brand.
Through her Twitter post, Bela said that a brand of shoes from Spain contacted her because they want to send her two pairs of shoes and it was shipped last April.
“Last week, I informed them that I haven’t received the shoes yet. Apparently, our customs was charging them an [additional] 10,500 pesos even if they paid for shipping through @DHLUS already,” she shared.
After calling DHL, she was told to pay “9,000 and the 10,500 to receive the shoes”. The actress was also told to provide a document as proof of purchase but she stressed that she didn’t buy the shoes because they were “gifts”.
The actress also revealed that the BOC priced the shoes around 500 euros but Bela Padilla said that was not the price of the shoes. “I offered to provide screenshots of my conversations with the brand and the prices of the shoes. But I was told that the shoes are now considered ‘abandoned,’” she added.
To her dismay, all the phone calls she had were put in vain because the shoes are just in a warehouse “collecting dust”. “I wanna know where they get these rates that they seem to pull out of thin air. This isn’t the first time. Our customs, always a rip off,” she said.
The actress said that this happened also to her last year when she bought Harry Styles merch. Bela expressed that she can’t understand why the Customs had to put a high price tag on a brand that is not that big yet. She was dismayed also by the response she got from DHL.
Bela Padilla said that when she called the international shipping company for a number to be contacted, she as just told, “don’t worry, we’ll call you.”
The BOC replied to one of Bela’s tweet in order to address this issue.
