PH Government May Start Giving COVID-19 Vaccine to Essential Workers, Poor Filipinos in June
PH GOVERNMENT – The authorities are eyeing to start the vaccination of essential workers and poor Filipinos by the month of June.
Most countries in the world now are vaccinating their citizens against COVID-19. One of these nations is the Philippines which recorded over 1 million cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began in 2020.
The national government is eyeing to achieve “herd immunity” in the country this year. Several types of vaccines including Sinovac, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca have arrived in the country.
The medical frontliners, the senior citizens, and those who have comorbidity are the three (3) top priorities in the vaccination ladder. They compose the A1 to A3.

The vaccination for the medical frontliners, the senior citizens, and those who have comorbidities have already started. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the PH government is also eyeing to start the vaccination of essential workers and the poor Filipinos by June.
According to the report, the essential workers and the poor Filipinos are comprising the A4 and A5 categories of the vaccination program. There are estimates of 12 million Filipinos under the A4 category and 16 million Filipinos under the A5.
The PH government aims to start the vaccination of those who are under the A4 and A5 categories even if the vaccination of those in the preceding categories have yet to finish. Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. previously stressed that it is important to increase the “net” so the target population will also increase.
Galvez expressed that the vaccines that will be donated from the COVAX facility will be given to those who are under the A5 category while the purchased vaccines will be given to the essential workers. The President has previously expressed his desire to have the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the military vaccinated first.
