Ogie Diaz shared what he and Liza Soberano talked about the Darna project
Comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz recalled the conversation he had with his talent Liza Soberano about the Darna project which led to the decision of the latter to turn it down.
The Pinoy superhero movie is one of the most anticipated projects to happen these past few years. However, this project has encountered several major delays and because of these, until now there is no certainty if this will going to push through.
In 2017, Liza was chosen to replace Angel Locsin as Darna, based on the article in PEP. Two years after that, Liza had to back out also because of her finger injury which she acquired in her TV series Bagani in 2018.
When asked about this, Ogie Diaz said, “Kapag hindi ukol, di bubukol.” He shared what he said to his talent who he considers as his “anak”.
“Willing si Liza to do it. Sabi ko, ‘Nak, huwag na nating gawin. Alam mo bakit? Nadisgrasya ka na sa Bagani, baka ito’y kalabit na huwag niyo nang gawin ang Darna,” he said.
For the talent manager, the injury that the actress had was kind of a sign that she should not continue the Darna project that will require her to do more dangerous stunts.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Kunyari lang, mag-Darna ka, ituluy-tuloy mo kasi nakapangako ka na. ’E, paano kapag nag-harness ka, bumagsak? Di ba? At least ito, daliri pa lang iyong nadali sa iyo,‘” Ogie recalled.
He added that as a talent manager, he had to think for the long-term result and not just the short-term effect of a certain project for his talent.
Ogie Diaz did not having a huge commission from the supposed Darna project. The safety of his artist is more important for him.
In a previous article, netizens speculated that the Darna project is “cursed” because until now, it has not pushed through and there were several factors that caused its delay, like the changes in the lead character, as well as the director.
