Vice Ganda “bertud”? Comedian speaks about Rabiya Mateo and her upcoming Miss Universe pageant.
RABIYA MATEO – This is what Vice Ganda said about Rabiya Mateo as the coronation night of the Miss Universe pageant approaches.
The 69th edition of the Miss Universe pageant will be at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on May 16. This is morning of May 17 in Philippines and the one who will represent the country in this international competition is Iloilo beauty Rabiya Mateo.

The Philippines is already considered a powerhouse of beauty pageants. In Miss Universe alone, we have already snatched four crowns through Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray. And if ever Rabiya wins this year, it would be our fifth crown and since the start of her journey, she’s been vocal about aiming for it.
And now, Vice Ganda speaking about it mentioned his “bertud”. To recall, winners such as Pia and Catriona went to his defunct comedy talk show Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) before they fly to pageant and they both won. Since then, the “bertud” was coined but the host of the show himself believe otherwise.

“Charot charot lang naman ‘yon na kaya sila nanalo dahil binigyan ko sila ng pa-bertud, pero talagang deserving naman, mahuhusay naman talaga,” he said. The Kapamilya comedian believed that Pia and Cat won because they did great and are really deserving of it.
His “bertud” has nothing to do with it. He also recalled 66th Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters who also appeared in his program but did not win. And despite everything, he remained to have high hopes with Rabiya. Vice believed she’s talented, gifted, and special.
He added based on PEP, “Ang tanong na lang is kung nakasulat ba sa kanyang tadhana, kaya magdasal tayo na sana nakasulat sa kanyang tadhana na maputungan ng korona.”
