Here’s why Vice Ganda almost left the show before.
Kapamilya star Vice Ganda recently opened up about a difficult moment, sharing she nearly quit the noontime program It’s Showtime.
As we all know, Vice Ganda plays a central and defining role in It’s Showtime. She is one of the noontime show’s most important figures since its debut in 2009. She serves as the main and lead host who spearheads the show’s daily flow, guiding segments, interacting with contestants, and maintaining the program’s lively and engaging atmosphere.
Previously, when Vice was absent for a month, her absence was deeply felt, and many were looking for her. She is the show’s primary source of humor, loved for her sharp punchlines and relatable jokes.
Recently, in an interview, Vice revealed that she actually almost quit the long-running noontime program while opening up about a difficult moment in her career.
It stemmed from emotional exhaustion and personal challenges. She had reached a point where she doubted herself if she could still continue.
“Nung bagu-bago, siguro nung bagu-bago pa. Nung hindi ko pa gamay. Nung from comedy bar, tapos nag-mainstream, tapos malala yung eksena. Naano ako doon, na-culture shock. As in lahat ng forms of shock. Parang na-overwhelm ako. Hindi ko siya kinaya,” she shared.
After the first season, she actually took a rest and was already planning to leave because of the daily pressures and low salary she was receiving. She felt like all the stress and pressure she was going through back then were not worth it for the PHP 5,000.00 per day salary. She has already decided to go back to the comedy bar where she can earn a higher income.
But then, because of her significant contributions to the show, some negotiations were made. She was given higher compensation, and that was when she knew the show actually knew her worth.
“Ay, oo! To be fair, alam naman nila. Alam naman nila ang worth ko. Hindi ko naman kailangang,” said Vice.
