This is the inspiration behind the Miss Universe arrival outfit of Rabiya Mateo
Philippines’ representative Rabiya Mateo arrived at Miss Universe’s hotel venue wearing a white fringed skirt and long-sleeved midriff top and here is the inspiration behind her outfit.
The beauty queen from Iloilo city has the support of over 100 Pinoy fashion designers for her outfits in the most prestigious beauty pageant.
During the arrival at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on May 6 (May 3 in the Philippines), Rabiya stunned the pageant fans with her outfit.
Talking to PEP, fashion designer Yeye Panteleon shared the inspiration of his creation for Rabiya Mateo. He said that he was surprised that the Pinay beauty queen wore it for her Miss Universe arrival.

“I am overwhelmed and surprised! Hindi ko po kasi alam when niya isusuot yung white dress na ginawa ko para sa kanya. But seeing the dress fit well on her, it really was made for Queen Rabiya,” the Pinoy designer said.
He added that seeing Rabiya wearing his creation showed that the beauty queen delivered the exact inspiration he wanted to convey.
“The inspiration was the sweet, angelic face of Queen Rabiya, her innocence. But behind those eyes, I sense the burning fire inside her. So I incorporated sweet yet sultry, s#xy but blithe dress for her so kailangan ko siya ibalance sa design,” Panteleon explained.
He added that he chose the white palette for Rabiya Mateo’s outfit for her angelic aura but chose the fringe details to showcase her playfulness.
