The vaccination program is currently ongoing in the Philippines. However, truths be told that the vaccines procured are still not enough to reach the target. China has donated some Sinovac vaccines to the country.
In the vaccination ladder, among the top priorities are the healthcare workers and the senior citizens. Many hospitals in the country have reached their full capacity for the COVID-19 cases.
Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke to the Filipinos over hospital accommodations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chief Executive told the people not to think that hospitals can accommodate them “just anytime”.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President was not surprised that the cases in the country has surpassed the 1-million mark. With regards to the hospital beds, he stressed that it would depend on the vacancy.
“Do not ever think that we can accommodate you at just anytime. If you look on TV and sa mga news, hindi nga makapasok [sa ospital], naghihintay nga sa mga kotse,” the President said.
Reportedly, the intensive care capacity in Metro Manila now is at moderate risk level. According to the health officials, 62% of the ICU beds in Metro Manila hospitals are currently occupied.
Currently, the total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is 1,020,495 with 67,769 active cases. The death toll is at 17,031.
