An educators group said that the school teacher are expected to get lesser vacation days for the school year 2021-2022.
On Wednesday (April 28, 2021), the Alliance of Concerned Teachers-Philippines secretary general Raymond Basilio said that the teachers would only have 59 vacation days for the upcoming school year. The educators are supposed to have at least 80 days under the policy.
Basilio said that the discussion on overtime pay has not been resolved yet the vacation days of teachers have been reduced. He also called the attention of the Department of Education to recognize the rights of the teachers.
“Tayo po ay handang magbigay ng serbisyo at maglingkod sa panahon ng pandemya. Ang aming panawagan sa Department of Education ay kilalanin ang aming mga batayang karapatan at igalang ito, at in as much as possible ibigay ang karampatang benepisyo,” the group leader said.
The group also said that they will file an appeal to the Education Department to reconsider the situation since a lot of teachers are suffering from illnesses due to the massive amount of school works.
