DepEd Wants All School Personnel & Teachers to be Vaccinated by June 2021

DepEd – The Department of Education is hoping that the government would start vaccinating all school personnel including teachers by June 2021.

Nowadays, the coronavirus disease continue to affect millions of people in different countries all around the world. The virus does not only affect the people’s health but also causes a negative impact to the global economy.

The Philippine government has started to distribute anti-COVID-19 vaccines developed by giant pharmaceutical companies abroad. The vaccination programs aims to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The Education Department is eyeing that the Philippine government would begin implementing the vaccine program for teaching and nonteaching personnel by June this year. The agency wants to place teacher in the priority list.

Over the past few months, Education Secretary Leonor Briones has been campaigning to include the teachers in the priority list for COVID-19 vaccination program. The plead aims to secure the safety of both teachers and students.

The government has already moved the teaching and nonteaching personnel from category B1 to A4 at the vaccine prioritization. A1 includes health workers, A2 prioritizes senior citizens, A3 covers persons with comorbidities and school employees are now on A4.
