Dennis Padilla Says Robin Padilla Belongs in the Senate, Not Malacañang
DENNIS PADILLA – As speculation grows over Robin Padilla’s possible 2028 plans, Dennis Padilla has openly shared why he believes another Senate term is the best path for the actor-turned-lawmaker.
Veteran actor and comedian Dennis Padilla believes his close friend, Senator Robin Padilla, would be better off seeking another term in the Senate rather than aiming for the country’s highest or second-highest office in the 2028 national elections.
According to Dennis, Robin has already proven himself as an effective lawmaker and can continue making meaningful contributions to the country by remaining in the legislative branch. He shared his thoughts during a recent conversation with selected members of the entertainment media.
The topic surfaced after reports and discussions suggesting that Robin could run for vice president in 2028, possibly as the running mate of Vice President Sara Duterte. Other political observers have also floated the possibility of the senator seeking the presidency instead and challenging Duterte for the nation’s top post.
When asked whether he supports either of those possibilities, Dennis was quick to express his preference.
“No, no, no. I want him to run as senator again. Kasi, number one, magaling na siya sa paggawa ng batas. Magaling na siya sa legislative work. So, perfect na lang ‘yun,” said Dennis.
He also explained that pursuing another Senate seat would involve fewer difficulties and would allow Robin to focus on work he already excels at.
“Tsaka less challenges kapag senatorial. Less challenges, less gastos,” she said.
“Kasi nasa number one position na siya. Kapag tumakbo si Robin, ang pinakamababa niyang puwedeng makuha ay top three, top three or top four.
“Pero sa survey, kahit na today ang election, number one pa rin si Robin Padilla,” the comedian said.
Dennis emphasized that Robin’s strong public support makes another Senate victory highly achievable. He believes the action star-turned-politician is in an excellent position to continue serving the Filipino people through legislation rather than taking on the added responsibilities and challenges of the presidency or vice presidency.
Recent election surveys appear to support Dennis’ confidence, with Robin Padilla continuing to rank as the top choice among Filipino voters for the Senate in the next elections. In a separate survey, the senator’s name also emerged as a preferred candidate for the vice presidency, further reflecting his sustained popularity among the electorate.
