Student Arrested After Posting Bomb Threat Online to Suspend Classes

An 18-year-old student allegedly posted on social media that he would bomb his school, reportedly in an attempt to have classes suspended.

On July 27, 2026, the student in Nueva Ecija was arrested after allegedly posting a bomb threat. He later admitted that it was intended to cause the suspension of classes at his school. The message quickly raised alarm among students, teachers, parents, and school officials.

The Philippine National Police deployed its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to inspect the school grounds to ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area to determine whether there was any real threat.

After several hours of inspection, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices or dangerous materials were found inside the school. While the threat turned out to be false, the post caused fear and anxiety among members of the school community.

Police investigators later traced the social media account responsible for the post and identified the student behind it. He was subsequently arrested, and his mobile phone was confiscated for cybercrime forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to authorities, the student admitted creating the post. During questioning, he reportedly explained that his goal was simply to have classes suspended. Investigators said he did not provide any other motive and claimed that he had no intention of carrying out an actual attack.

“Para lang pong walang pasok po sa nasabing paaralan. ‘Yun po ang sinabi niya sa akin. Base po sa pag-iimbestiga namin, ‘yun lang po ‘yung naging alibi niya,” Llanera Police Acting Chief Capt. Edmer Portilio said.

The student also acknowledged his mistake and expressed regret over his actions. He reportedly admitted that making such a post was wrong and warned others not to repeat the same behavior after experiencing the consequences firsthand.

Authorities emphasized that bomb threats, even when intended as jokes or false alarms, are treated seriously because they can cause panic, disrupt school operations, and put public safety resources at risk.
