Sara Duterte Raises Fresh Allegations Against ICC, Marcos & Trillanes
SARA DUTERTE – Speaking before supporters at a Free Duterte rally in the Netherlands, Vice President Sara Duterte intensified her criticism of the ICC over the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Vice President Sara Duterte strongly criticised the International Criminal Court (ICC), alleging that the tribunal is being influenced by former senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during her speech before supporters in The Hague, Netherlands.
The Vice President made the remarks during the “Free Duterte” rally organised by the Filipino community (FilCom) on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Her statements were linked to the ICC’s arrest of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faces allegations of crimes against humanity over the implementation of the Oplan Tokhang or War on Drugs campaign during his administration.

Addressing the crowd, VP Sara compared Trillanes and President Marcos to individuals who had allegedly betrayed both the country and the Filipino people.
“How do we characterize Trillanes and Marcos in relation to [the] ICC? Yes, they are traitors to the Filipino and to the country. But more than that, ang ICC ay tuta ni Trillanes at ni Marcos,” she said.
She further questioned the ICC’s focus on her father’s case, claiming that it had no other Philippine-related investigation.
“Because the ICC has no other case except for the case of President Rodridgo Duterte. And they found Marcos, Trillanes, and money in the Philippine case.”
The Vice President also alleged that the arrest of the former president was driven by financial interests rather than justice. According to her, the issue revolved around money or “maleta” instead of accountability for the Filipino people.
“Maleta ang pinag-uusapan dito. So where is the justice in all these? There are no justice in the Philippines, there is no justice for the Filipino, and there is no justice for former President Rodrigo Duterte,” she said.

VP Sara likewise criticised what she described as the ICC’s selective approach to its investigations, arguing that the tribunal had unfairly singled out her father.
“‘Oh, we have an Asian now. We’re done with the blacks, let’s go to the Asians. To hell with the whites, we cannot go after them. Let’s go after this one person who has [been]delivered by Marcos to us,’” she added.
As of this writing, neither former senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV nor President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued any response, reaction, or official statement regarding the Vice President’s remarks.
