Here’s what Willie Revillame said about his meeting with the Chief Executive
Wowowin host Willie Revillame shared the conversation he had with President Rodrigo Duterte during their recent meeting.
It is not the first time that the name of the veteran host is being linked to politics. During the past elections, it has been rumored that he would run, however, for several instances, Kuya Wil has denied entering into the political arena.
His recent visit to the Malacanang Palace once again ignited this kind of speculation. In a previous article, it was stated that the President told the game show host to keep his options open.
While political speculations surface, Willie Revillame said that his meeting with the President Duterte last March 16, the main agenda was not politics.
“Isang malaking karangalan po na maimbitahan tayo ng mahal nating Pangulo, Senator Bong Go, at Secretary [Salvador] Medialdea dahil po wala kaming pinag-usapan about politics,” the TV host said based on the article in GMA Network.
Kuya Wil explained that he got invited because the President and his administration wanted to thank him and his TV show in extending help to the less fortunate people.
The TV host said that it is an honor for him to give inspiration to other people and that the government is trusting his program in doing this. “Si Pangulong Duterte po ay nagpasalamat po nang personal sa akin,” he stressed.
On the other hand, Willie Revillame admitted that the President has encouraged him to take the step in order to help more people.
However, Kuya Wil said that he can’t leave Wowowin and the 22 million people who have been supporting his show over the years. The Chief Executive also told him to continue helping the Filipino people.
After that meeting, Willie Revillame said that he went home feeling happy that the administration has noticed the effort of Wowowin in order to extend help.
“Ang sabi ko lang sa mahal na pangulo, ipagdadasal ko ho nang mabuti at pag-iisipan ko ho itong desisyon pero sa ngayon ho, hindi ko po pwedeng iwanan ang programang Wowowin,” Kuya Wil said.
He added that he will continue to help whoever will be the president.
