Class and Work Suspension for Monday (February 22) Due to Effects of Tropical Depression Auring
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class and work suspension in different areas due to Tropical Depression Auring.
Tropical Depression Auring continues to affect the country’s weather condition. The storm slightly weakened before making a landfall over the Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar-Leyte area. It is expected to weaken to a low pressure area for the next six to twelve hours.
The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph near the center. Auring has a speed of 20 kph moving at Northwestward direction.
On Monday (February 22, 2021), several local government units declared the cancellation of class and government works over some parts of the country due to the inclement weather conditions brought by Auring.
Here is the list of areas covered by the work and class suspension:
- Tacloban City – All levels
- Romblon province – All levels
- Cantillan, Surigao del Sur – All levels
- Compostela, Davao de Oro – All levels
- Madridejos, Cebu – All levels
- Tolosa, Leyte – All levels
- Tanauan, Leyte – All levels
- Barugo, Leyte – Preschool to high school
The government work in Tacloban City, Romblon province, and Barugo, Leyte have been suspended.
Meanwhile, the LGU of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur has also suspend both classes and government works due to the massive flooding in the areas. Romblon Governor Jose Riano and Surigao del Sur Mayor Carla Pichay have also issued an executive order regarding the suspension of school activities in all levels in the area.
