NEGROS NEEDS HELP – Incessant rain heavily flooded several parts of Negros Occidental and Negrosanons struggling amid flood break hearts.
Celebrating the new year, thousands from Negros Occidental welcomed 2021 with massive floods and flash floods. The cities of Talisay, Silay, and Victorias, and EB Magalona town got drowned in floodwaters due to heavy rain, and the areas once again experienced the same things a little over a week after that incident.
January 8, 2021, PAGASA said thunderstorms brought heavy rains in areas such as Talisay, Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, E.B. Magalona, Victorias, and Manapla. Hundreds of families already evacuated their homes to safety as water reached the roofs of some homes.
And trending online is the hashtag #NegrosNeedsHelp as Negrosanons are in dire need of food and other necessities as some houses suffered from being submerged under deep waters. In just a span of one week, these areas experienced two flash floods.

The new year flood has caused at least P16.5 million worth of damages as per Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino. The worst-hit is Victorias City, where at least Php 5,219,910.00 worth of crops were damaged. Then, EB Magalona town at Php 4,284,000.00; Silay City at Php 1,695, 832.00; Cadiz City at Php 302,381.00; and Sagay City at Php 52,575.00.
High-value crops in Silay City reached Php 840,600.00 and the damage to fishponds in EB Magalona was at Php 4,120,790.00.
