Youth Groups Urged DepEd to Allow Face-to-Face Classes

Some youth groups have conduct a protest and urged the Department of Education to allow the face-to-face classes amid pandemic.

Several groups including “back to school network,” “Anakbayan,” “Kabataan party-list,” “League of Filipino students,” and “Gabriella Youth” conduct a gadget protest at DepEd main office in Pasig.

The teenagers have posted the sentiments including slow-internet connection, lack of gadgets, and financial support for the online class from the government. The distance learning reportedly makes learning more difficult for the students.

The young students are urging Education secretary Leonor Briones to allow the face-to-face learning system. The youth wants “alternative classes” nationwide such as (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) especially in low-risk areas.

However, the Education Department will still study the matter and the decision is up to President Rodrigo Duterte. Last week, the Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that limited face-to-face classes might resume on January 2020.
