Alex Eala Reveals the Smart Money Habit Behind Her Success
ALEX EALA – Despite her rapid rise on the international tennis stage, Alex Eala revealed that she stays disciplined when it comes to money and always thinks about the future.
Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has revealed that despite her growing success and increasing earnings at a young age, she remains careful with her finances and prefers to make smart decisions for her future instead of spending on luxury.
At only 21 years old, Eala has become one of the country’s brightest athletes, steadily climbing the international tennis scene while proudly representing the Philippines. Her impressive performances in major tournaments have not only elevated her reputation but have also significantly increased her earnings. Aside from prize money, she has also secured endorsement deals with various brands, providing her with additional sources of income.

Most recently, Eala received the biggest prize money of her professional career after reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, where she earned £300,000. The amount added to the prize money she collected from other Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments, including her championship victory at the WTA 125 Birmingham Open, served as a strong start to her successful grass-court campaign.
Despite these achievements, Eala said she remains focused on building long-term financial security rather than giving in to extravagant spending.
“My first big investment in general, not just with my earnings from Wimbledon but my earnings in general, I invest in my future. I save a lot of money,” she shared during a press conference on Tuesday.
She further explained, “I like to be cautious with my money. I’m still so young so I’m so lucky and blessed to be under the guidance of my parents and my family at BPI to learn to manage that well.”
Although Eala enjoys saving, she clarified that she does not completely avoid spending. Instead, she chooses to invest in things that contribute to her career and overall well-being. Her larger expenses usually include physiotherapy and recovery sessions, proper nutrition, supplements, and business-class flights for long international trips that help her stay in peak condition while competing.
“I love to save when it comes to certain things. So, when it comes to, for example, luxury items, I save and I make smart decisions before I buy something, a luxury item,” Eala added.

Beyond financial responsibility, the young athlete also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy life outside tennis. She shared that she is making a conscious effort to build friendships while traveling on tour and to discover new interests beyond the sport that has defined much of her life.
“Yes I have a life outside of tennis. It’s something I put effort into nurturing because a lot of the times, especially when I travel for my job, sometimes your career can become your whole life and your work-life balance can be off-balanced,” she said.
She concluded, “But one of my goals that I had at the start of the year is to make more friends on tour. I’ve started to read. It’s difficult to have hobbies. I think it’s still a process for me, a process of getting to know myself and learning what I want.”
