Local Social Welfare Rescues 3 Children Allegedly Abandoned by Parents for 2 Days
Three children who were allegedly abandoned by their parents inside a rented house for two days were rescued by local social welfare authorities.
On Thursday (July 16, 2026), the children, aged eight months, five years old, and seven years old in Barangay Bagumbayan, Pililla, Rizal, were rescued after a video of their situation spread on social media.
Reports revealed that the children had been left alone for nearly a day without any adult supervision.
Concerned neighbors became worried when they noticed the children had no one looking after them. One kind-hearted resident temporarily took them in and provided immediate care while waiting for authorities to arrive.
“Nakita namin ‘yung bata basang-basa na ‘yung pampers. Buti may nagkupkop, inayos ‘yung katawan nung bata,” Barangay Bagumbayan Peace and Safety Office Deputy Chief Felix Condrado.
Barangay responders who visited the area found the children in poor condition, particularly the infant, whose diaper had not been changed for a long period. The baby’s condition drew concern from rescuers, especially because the child also has a disability and requires special care and attention.
“Maawa sila sa bata kasi may baby pa. Kawawa ang mga bata, lalo ‘yung isa hindi siya nakakatayo. Iyak lang ‘yung pinaka-language niya,” he added.
Following the rescue, the children were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. Social workers immediately arranged medical examinations to check their health and ensure that they were safe.
The children are also receiving temporary shelter, food, and other support while authorities assess their situation.
Officials expressed concern for the welfare of the children, especially the youngest child, who is unable to stand and relies heavily on caregivers for daily needs. Social workers emphasized the importance of protecting the children and making sure they receive proper care moving forward.
As of this writing, the parents have not contacted authorities or returned to claim the children. Because of the circumstances, they may face charges related to child abandonment and child abuse once they are located.
Meanwhile, barangay officials and local police are closely monitoring the area and remain ready to take action if the parents return to their rented residence.
