Isko Moreno Grieves Death of Former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim
ISKO MORENO – Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso grives the death of former senator and Manila Mayor Alfredo “Fred” Lim.
Older people are greatly impacted by the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease. More than 50 percent of all deaths were people aged 80 years or older.
Health authorities asked families to protect, care, and support their older family members. The World Health Organization (WHO) also advised the young people to stay safe because they are not invincible to coronavirus disease.
Former senator and Manila Mayor Alfredo “Fred” Lim died on Saturday afternoon, August 8. His death was confirmed by his grandson Paul dela Cruz. He said he died battling COVID-19 disease.
Former Manila Mayor Erap Estrada said he was saddened by the passing of the late politician. In his FB post, he praised Lim for his love for the less fortunate Manileño.
Alfredo Lim served as the mayor of the city of Manila from 1992 to 1998. Last year, he lost the mayoralty elections to actor-turned-politician Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
In Facebook Live on Saturday night, Moreno grieves he death of the Lim. He recalled the late politician’s years of service to the Manileño.
Isko Moreno also praised him for his tough stance against crime. He said they turned off the lights of the Manila Clock Tower to pay respect for Lim.
“Hindi namin alam kung ano salitang maihahamabing bukod sa magaling at matinong pamamalakad ni Mayor Lim bilang alkalde, para sa kabataan… Sa loob ng mahabang panahon ng buhay ni Mayor Lim inalay niya halos lahat ito sa bayan, 38 years na po siyang naging pulis. Naglingkod sa lungsod ng Maynila simula patrolman hanggang maging chief ng pulis ng Maynila,” he said.
