Angkas, Task Force Shield Team Up For Free Transportation For COVID-19 Frontliners
COVID-19 FRONTLINERS – Motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas partnered with the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield to provide free rides to COVID-19 frontliners.
Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers are among the most vulnerable to coronavirus. Several health workers have resigned due to the fear of contracting COVID-19. There are also courageous frontliners who want to help ensure the health and safety of the public.
Recently, medical workers called for a “time out” due to the spike of COVID-19 in the country. They asked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to reimpose the “enhanced community quarantine” (ECQ) in Metro Manila. However, they did not get the ECQ they asked for. Duterte placed Metro Manila and other nearby areas under “modified enhanced community quarantine” (MECQ) for 15 days.
Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield and the motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas team up to provide free transportation to COVID-19 frontliners in areas under MECQ.
They will deploy 1,000 riders to fetch medical workers to and from their workplaces. Angkas will give free rides to frontliners assigned at Philippine General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, Ospital ng Sampaloc sa Maynila; East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City, and Tala Hospital in Caloocan City.

They also donated 1,000 motorcycle barriers to healthcare workers with motorcycle so that their family could also ride with them. The turnover ceremony of the motorcycle shield was held at the Camp Crame national police headquarters in Quezon City on Friday, August 7.
