Health Workers Believe COVID-19 Response of Gov’t Needs Improvement

Health Workers Reveal Side on Government’s COVID-19 Response

HEALTH WORKERS – The members of the healthcare industry believe that the COVID-19 response of the government needs improvement.

Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded thousands of COVID-19 cases daily. It is more than three days now that the health department listed at least 3,000 cases of coronavirus in one day.

Currently, the total cases of COVID-19 recorded in the country is 106,330. According to the health department, there is a total of 65,821 recoveries now while the death toll is at 2,104.

Several healthcare groups called the government for the re-implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). They asked for a 2-week breather to be more prepared in fighting against the pandemic.

Recently, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed Metro Manila and several nearby areas to Modified ECQ. The said decision is welcomed by the healthcare workers including the Philippine College of Physicians.

However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, health workers believe that there is really a need for improvement on the COVID-19 response of the government. They also stressed that they are not fighting against the government in response to Pres. Duterte claiming they’re demeaning their own government by their calls.

According to the report, former Philippine Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said that there is really a need to map out the areas with high COVID-19 cases. She also said that areas with a silent epidemic must also be identified.

Currently, there is a total of 5,008 health workers infected by COVID-19 in the Philippines. Out of the said total number, the recoveries is at 4,576 while 394 are active cases.
