Areas in Bacolod City which are put under lockdown.
BACOLOD CITY – Several areas in Bacolod City has announced lockdown due to pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection surge.
As of 8 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, Bacolod City has recorded two (2) new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This brings them a total of 150 confirmed cases with 89 active cases, 57 recoveries, and recorded 4 deaths related to the disease.
City Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced that sea travel to Iloilo City, a neighboring island, will be prohibited starting July 27 until further notice. He has already talked to the Iloilo’s Mayor Jerry Trenas about the matter stating that “one way traffic” will be “impractical and not feasible at all”.
Meanwhile, in a previous report, experts from University of the Philippines (UP) predicted that the positive cases in the country will reach around 140,000 by the end of August. They believe that the current numbers are just a fraction of the real numbers due to lack of testing in the country.
The numbers of positive cases in the country continue tov spike despite all the efforts of the authorities implementing strict health protocols and community quarantine. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, on the other hand, stated that Metro Manila might return to but in a stricter modified ECQ if in case the number would strike 85,000.
