PH To Allow Entry Of Foreigners Starting August 1
FOREIGNERS – Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said foreigners are allowed to enter the Philippines starting August 1.
The job of the Inter-Agency Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) is to respond to affairs concerning the emerging infectious diseases in the country. They also provide updates on the country’s situation amid the COVID-19.
On March 9, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte called the agency amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country. He also ordered an entry ban on foreigners.
President Duterte made the announcement after the country raised Code Red Sub-Level 2 over the threat recommended by the IATF. The measure also came a day after the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. Pinoy citizens are exempted from the travel ban.
Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the IATF will allow the entry of foreign nationals in the country starting August 1. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the foreigners who have long-term visas in the country are the only ones allowed. Foreigners are required to secure a pre-booked COVID-19 testing provider and a pre-booked accredited quarantine facility.
However, in a meeting on July 16, the agency set conditions prior to their entry. Roque said “They must first have valid and existing visas at the time of the entry. this means no new entry visa shall be accepted.”
“They are likewise subject to the maximum capacity of inbound passengers at the port and date of entry, as returning overseas Filipinos will be given priority,” he added.
