Joey de Leon received criticism because of this joke
Veteran comedian-host Joey de Leon joked about ABS-CBN and this did not sit well with netizens.
Joey is known for his brand of comedy which could sometimes create controversy and issue. For many years, he has done many comedy movies and shows.
Just recently, the Henyo Master had a joke on the longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga, which elicited negative reactions from netizens, based on the article in Bandera.

During that specific episode, Mister Pampanga 2026 RJ Perkins guested on the show. He went viral for joining a male pageant, showcasing his chubby body. RJ received admiration from people for embracing his body.
Joey de Leon had an intriguing joke during their conversation. “Hindi na uso yung abs. Wala na nga yung abs eh,” he said, referring to the toned abdomen area, acquired through exercise or fitness routine.
On the other hand, it appeared that his longtime friend, and fellow host-comedian Vic Sotto, knew what he truly meant. “Iba naman yun eh!” Bossing Vic said.
Then, Joey said, “ABS-CBN pala yun. Sorry, sorry.” It is known to many showbiz fans that the Kapamilya network was no longer able to renew its franchise, and this situation remained until now.
Netizens expressed negative reactions to Joey’s joke. It was said that some netizens recalled that once there was a time when the veteran comedian-host was also a Kapamilya as Eat Bulaga aired on ABS-CBN for a period of time.

Here are some comments from netizens who did not like that joke made by Joey de Leon.
“Heto na naman, bumanat na naman si Henyo, nagpapaka-relevant haha.”
“May eat bulaga pa pala? Sorry hindi na ramdam eh.”
“Hinde nila matanggap na natalo sila ng walang franchise. Dapat mapanuod ito ni Vice para hinde na siya gumawa ng Movie kasama ni Vic Sotto baka sabihin nila kaya Blockbuster yung Movie dahil nandun si Vic Sotto.“
Meanwhile, Joey’s mention of the surname “Discaya” on Eat Bulaga went viral last year. During the height of the flood control issue, he said this when a contestant was asked to provide an animal that started with letter “D.”
