Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shares that after his mayoral stint in 2028, he will be focusing on teaching at a university.
While many are yearning for his leadership at the national level, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto decided to pursue other things after his term ends in 2028. Many offer visions of a progressive Philippines, but for the mayor, he has a different vision for himself after his stint.
After his term ends, one of his plans when he becomes a private citizen focusing on teaching at the Ateneo de Manila University. This is the same institution where he finished Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2011 and Master’s degree in Public Management in 2018.
“Marami akong plano sa buhay. Hindi lang naman yung pagtuturo. Pero, of course, marami din akong gusto din. Politics lang naman yung hindi ako tatakbo, di ba? So wala akong planong tumakbo or what, kahit ibang position,” he said, reiterating that he has no plans to pursue a national position in the government.
He is looking forward to this season in his life because he has a lot in mind to do after finishing his third and final term as mayor. Sotto assured that despite being no longer in the public service by that time, he would still offer help, saying, “Oo, oo. Whether, I’m in government or outside government, talagang ano pa rin… hindi ako lalayo ng field.”
When asked whether he feels pressured, either by people urging him to run for a higher position or by expectations about having a love life, he quipped that he just leaves them alone and not dwell on them.
He expressed that he’s not someone who easily feels pressured by anything.
