Update on Bacolod City COVID-19 Cases Now Amid Pandemic

BACOLOD CITY – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran confirmed the new case of COVID-19 in the city with the patient being a family member of another coronavirus patient.

The fight against COVID-19 in the different cities in the Philippines is not over. Several cities continue to record cases of the disease that has already claimed over 400,000 lives across the globe.

Currently, the Philippines is on a community quarantine. The high risk areas are observing a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) while the low and medium risk ones are on a Modified GCQ.

Bacolod City is one of the cities under an MGCQ now. It has already recorded 21 cases of the disease.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran

The 21st patient of COVID-19 in Bacolod City is a family member of patient 19 based on Aksyon Radyo Bacolod. It was confirmed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.

According to Familiaran, Patient 19 and Patient 21 are from Metro Manila. The latest COVID-19 patient is the mother-in-law of Patient 21. She is 52 years old and residing in Barangay Handumanan in Bacolod.

The Vice Mayor further stated that Patient 19, Patient 21, and the wife of Patient 19 were tested for COVID-19. Based on the report, the wife tested negative for the disease.

Vice Mayor Familiaran, the 52-year-old patient is showing no symptoms of coronavirus. She is now on a home quarantine in their residence in Barangay Handumanan.

The local government is leaving the decision to the barangay officials and the City Health Office on the safety measures to be implemented.
