Mother of Actress Chanda Romero Dies of COVID-19 in Cebu City Hospital
CHANDA ROMERO – Remedios “Meding” Romero, the mother of the veteran actress, died of COVID-19 in a hospital in Cebu City.
The Philippines is currently facing a huge challenge – the COVID-19 pandemic. This disease has rocked the healthcare of over 200 countries and territories across the globe.
In PH, the total coronavirus cases recorded now is at 40,336. Out of the said number, 1,280 died while 11,073 patients have recovered.
To curb the spread of the disease, the wearing of face mask and the practice of social distancing became protocols. The entire country is under a community quarantine now.
Cebu City has the highest cases of COVID-19. Starting June 16, it was returned to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to its increasing cases.
The COVID-19 exempts no one. Several cases proved that even the young and healthy individuals can be infected by this disease. A person may even be positive for it even without showing any symptoms at all.
In Cebu City, one of those who contracted COVID-19 is the mother of veteran actress Chanda Romero. Previously, the actress was seeking plasma donations for her mother from the coronavirus survivors.
However, unfortunately, the mother of Chanda Romero did not survive COVID-19. Remedios “Meding” Romero died last June 30 at Cebu Doctors Hospital in Cebu City.
The actress and her other siblings were not able to go home to Cebu to see their mother for the last time. Based on report on Pep, the actress’ sister, Marie Romero Wood, extended their gratitude to everyone who took care of their mom.
“In behalf of my family, we deeply appreciate the overwhelming prayers, love and support during this difficult time. To the CDH staff, the frontliners who tirelessly cared for our Mother and countless others, we can’t thank you enough. Special thanks to Dr. Tan, Dr. Barbas, Resident Dr. Shazna Bersaval and Dr. Lim. Let’s continue to pray for the soul of our Mother, Remedios Romero, may she rest in peace with the Lord. Amen. We love you very much, Mother, until we meet again.”
Condolences to the Romero family. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
