Angel Locsin Defends LGBTQ+ Community

ANGEL LOCSIN – Kapamilya actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin stood up for the right of the LGBTQ+ community.

There is no Pride march this year due to the quarantine restrictions. Filipinos who are members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) took to their social media accounts to celebrate Pride month.

Among the celebrities who were supporters of the LGBTQ+ community were Miss Universe titleholders Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray and Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin. On Monday, June 29, the ‘Darna’ actress took to her Instagram account to express her support as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

Angel Locsin uploaded a photo that featured the words “PROUD ALLY” on top of the rainbow colors. It came with a caption, “In a world with so much hatred, everyone should be allowed to feel safe & loved #HappyPrideMonth #FreePride20”

The 35-year-old celebrity stood up for the rights of the gay community after some of her IG followers called the gay and lesbian relationships a sin while citing the Bible. Angel told the netizen that it is repeatedly said in the Bible we should love one another and love our neighbor.

Another netizen behind @kathrinaalbano chimed in and told Angel Locsin that it’s her “responsibility as a Christian to enlighten [her] brethren” while stressing that same-sex relationship is considered as a sin in the Holy Bible.

Angel replied “so what’s your point? I’m all for equal rights. Why deny them that dahil tingin mong tama ka?”

Meanwhile one more IG user named @lorelioliveria joined. She said same gay and lesbian relationships are still wrong in the eyes of God. She also agreed with the actress’ statement that no one has the right to judge but God.

A netizen behind @bengyonce14 echoed the sentiments of @lorelioliveria. However, the prominent actress pointed out that the netizen is judging members of the gay community.
