What is the view of Pia Wurtzbach about plastic surgery?
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach talked about the stigma of plastic surgery in beauty pageants, especially in the Philippines.
It can be considered that plastic surgery or cosmetic enhancement is not openly talked about in the Philippines unlike in other much liberal countries when it comes to this aspect.
This could be the reason that Pinoys still has the stigma of enhancing one’s physical appearance, especially when it comes to beauty pageants wherein the main consideration is the beauty of a contestant.
During a recent episode of digital talk show Queentuhan, hosted by Pia along with Bb. Pilipinas-International 2014 Bianca Guidotti, and Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2010 Carla Lizardo, this aspect was talked about.

Their guest was transgender beauty queen Miss International Queen 2012 Kevin Balot. It can be recalled that she went controversial when she shared her views about transwomen joining pageants, known for having natural women, such as Miss Universe.
In line with this topic, the beauty queens also talked about plastic surgery that a natural woman would undergo and then join the pageant. Pia Wurtzbach said that even though a candidate wants to go under the knife, she can’t easily do it because of the fear of being judged by other people.
“There is a difference between going under the knife and the stigma. So, meron yung feeling na you have to do it. But also, ‘Will I be judged for this? Are people gonna bash me?’ Di ba?” the third Miss Universe Pinay said.
She added, “So, baka naman feeling mo, ito talaga yung gusto mong i-express, ito talaga ako… Pero baka naman… iba pa yung hurdle na yun sa another hurdle, ‘What other people think of me?’”
