Security Guard Teaches Street Kids During Lockdown
A pawnshop security guard identified as Rene Abelita served as a teacher to some street kids during the lockdown period.
Rene Abelita, who is working as a security guard at Palawan Pawnshop near Manila’s Arellano University has decided to teach street children during the quarantine period. Schools are still closed to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.
Several government officials proposed to convert traditional learning into online learning wherein students could learn and study at home. However, not everyone could avail of the new learning system.
The security guard patiently teaches the street kids while he is performing his duty at the pawnshop. He teaches the children on how to read and write, which would be a really big help while the schedule of class opening remains unknown.
A Facebook user named John Robert Flores is the one who discovered Abelita’s act of kindness towards the street kids.
“napadaan kami sa palawan pawnshop sa arellano university. And spotted si kuyang security guard na tinuturuan nyang magbasa at magsulat yung bata☺ nakakaproud lang kasi kahit di nya kaano-ano but still tinuruan nya parin kasi may busilak siyang puso❤ i salute you kuyang sg sana patuloy ka parin bigyan ng blessings ni lord dahil sa mabuting at busilak kang puso para matulungan ang batang yan,” Flores wrote on his post.
