ABS-CBN Chairman Emeritus Gabby Lopez Attends Congressional Hearing

ABS-CBN – Kapamilya network’s chairman emeritus, Gabby Lopez, joined the congressional hearing over the franchise of the network.

Currently, the ABS-CBN’s broadcasting category is not yet back to airing. It was after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against the network.

The said order is over the franchise of the Kapamilya network which is surrounded by allegations for several months now. It has expired and was yet to be renewed due to the issues.

The Kapamilya network adhered to the order and went off-air immediately upon the release of the mandate. Undeniably, a lot of people were saddened by it.

One of the issues surrounding the ABS-CBN network is the citizenship of its chairman emeritus, Gabby Lopez. The network continues to defend that Lopez is a Filipino from birth.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Gabby Lopez joined the congressional hearing for the franchise of the network. He’s also set to defend his citizenship amid allegations of violating the law.

According to the report, the chairman emeritus of the Kapamilya network is expected to speak on how his family got the media company after martial law.

Previously, the network’s president, Carlo Katigbak, expressed that the Lopez family did not sell the media company. He said that it was the the Supreme Court, the Office of the President, and the Presidential Commission on Good Government who helped to return the media company to the family after the People Power in 1986.
