Security Guard Walks 15 Kilometers To Get To Work

SECURITY GUARD – A security guard from Payatas said he walks 15 kilometers every day to reach his workplace in Quezon City.

Last Tuesday, May 12, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque introduced a new term of community quarantine. The “modified general community quarantine” will be imposed in low-risk COVID-19 areas.

The movement goes back to normal but people should still wear a face mask and maintain physical distancing. Private and public sectors resume while following strict health protocols.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, some workers and residents in Quezon City have critical issues in transportation since public jeeps and tricycles are still prohibited. The government encourages employers to provide service to their workers.

A school security guard from Payatas, Jeffrey Sario told the reporter that he walk 15 kilometers every day just to reach his workplace in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. He said he just considered it as part of his regular exercise routine.

“Okay naman kasi ma-aga pa naman. Ayun bale parang exercise na rin. Sundin nalang natin yung hinihiling ng gobyerno natin kun ano yung mas makakabuti,” he said.

The security guard’s perseverance touched the hearts of the online community. Here are some of their comments from the video:

@Milagros Yano: “Ang galing mo kuya!”

God bless kuya. Mag iingat ka.”

@Tata Perocho: “Tiis tiis lang. Makakabalik din tayo sa normal.”
