Under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) several industries are allowed to resume operation but only 50 percent of their workforce is physically present. The public transportation is still prohibited, so government are encouraging employers to prove service to workers.

However, Eleazar said that using tricycles and jeepneys are still prohibited due to illegal activities and abuse on the road. “Kapag ginamit po iyan (jeepneys and tricycles) at naningil po, eh colorum na po iyan. Kaya bawal pa rin po. Nakatutok po tayo riyan,” Eleazar said.

“If we allow it po, it will open the gates for abuse. Mahihirapan po tayo sa enforcement, and it will defeat the purpose of us being under MECQ. High risk nga po tayo, mag-antay antay po muna tayo,” he added.

Eleazar added workers from the allowed companies can cross to MECQ areas as long as they show proof of employment. According to the report of GMA News. However, he warned those people in GCQ or MECQ are not allowed to cross borders if the purpose is not for employment.
