PH Coronavirus: Experts Not Sure If Country Past 1st Wave Of Infections

Experts weigh PH Coronavirus infection in the country as ECQ has been lifted.

PH CORONAVIRUS – As lockdown in PH has been lifted despite increasing number of COVID-19 confirmed cases, experts say something.

China, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia are the countries which declared lockdowns in their several areas. This is after loosening up after months of strict lockdown due to the highly contagious disease Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), number of infections have flared up fearing that a second wave might happen.

Meanwhile, in a previous article, Russia now holds the top spot of having the most coronavirus cases in Europe exceeding Spain. Globally as of this writing, there’s a total of 4,797,987 cases, claiming 316,507 lives, and 1,855,066 recoveries.

And in the Philippines, the cases reached 12,718, 2,729 recoveries, and 831 deaths. Now, as lockdown and enhanced community quarantine has been lifted after a couple of months, experts said that they are not sure if the country is already past the first wave.

A medical adviser to the national task force on COVID-19, Dr. Ted Herbosa, said, “We don’t know (if PH is still going through first wave)… There are some scientists who are saying we just pushed the first peak farther, that means we bought time. And as soon as we opened up, the peak will go up.”

Moreover, some said that this is accordingly just the first wave and the 50 days of quarantine delayed it but the “other thing” as per Herbosa, is that the country was able to flattened it and the “peak will happen from external sources”.

Meanwhile, whether it is the second wave or the first wave, the behavior of the citizens and how they deal the crisis matters most. Health authorities and the government have already posted guidelines but if there’s still one who will not abide, the spreading of the virus will not stop.

Herbosa cited, based on CNN, what happened during the Spanish Influenza where people celebrated as soon as they were given freedom and the severity of the virus infection had a tragic second wave. And for now, the best thing to do is to live and adhere with the “new normal”.
