Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Calls PBBM SONA “Waste of Time of Filipino People”
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President admitted that she has no plan to read the transcript or even just the summary of the 5th State of the Nation Address or SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Currently, Vice Pres. Duterte is out of the country for a visit to several other nations abroad including The Netherlands. She returned to The Hague and visited former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who remains detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for more than a year now.

The elder Duterte was arrested and sent to The Hague, Netherlands under the watch of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The said controversial and unexpected turn of events last March 11, 2025 created a huge gap between the Duterte family and Marcos Jr.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly committed an impeachable offense over the arrest and the transfer of the custody of her father. The Duterte family believes that the direction of the ICC case against the former President allegedly points to a low chance that he will be released.

Since 2024, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has not been attending the State of the Nation Address of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. In 2024, she tagged herself as the “designated survivor”. The following year, she also skipped the SONA for other matters.

The deep rift between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is no secret to the Filipino people. Following the SONA 2026 of the President, the Vice President claimed that she has no plan of even reading just the summary of the speech of Marcos Jr.
“Hindi ako nanood ng SONA like last year and wala akong planong basahin ang nilalaman ng SONA o kahit man lang summary dahil I truly believe it is a waste of time of the Filipino people,” the Vice President said during the interview in The Hague.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also told the Filipinos outside the ICC in The Hague to not expect after Pres. Bongbong Marcos said in his SONA that piles of charges are set to be filed against his cousin, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Zaldy Co tagged Marcos Jr. and Romualdez in the flood control mess. According to the former Congressman who remains at large despite the charges against him, the President and the former Speaker allegedly received multi-million kickbacks all for themselves.
Malacañang was quick to defend the President and deny the allegations of Co. Recently, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos also reacted to the claim of Pres. Bongbong Marcos in his SONA about their cousin, former Speaker Martin Romualdez.
